The Missing Anklet

This topic so caught my fascination, that I just had to pen down my experience of "THE MISSING ANKLET". My obsession for anklets trails back to the time; my grandma gifted me a pair of silver anklets with little coloured chimes, when I was in school. For a long time I would make sure I wore outfits that would ensure display of my anklets. My walk would be more of solid steps to ensure the clinging of the anklets were well heard.

As I grew older and fashion statements changed, the chiming anklet was replaced by a simple or fancy chain with no chimes and worn only on ONE LEG!! But shopping was definitely merciful on the wallet as one simple chain could improvise from a neck chain to a bracelet to an Anklet. One such beauty caught my attention, a silver chain with small silver balls and the jeweler was magnanimous enough to size it to my ankle. Once again I moved to wearing outfits that would show off this beauty, this time that adorned only my one ankle. I guess though, not everyone around was acquainted with the newfangled  concept of wearing a single anklet, considering the number who voiced with concern that perhaps I had lost an Anklet. "Oh....it's not lost....this is the in thing now" I would reply with conceit, with the loftiness of being abreast about fashion and glamour. "The Missing Anklet" was not really missing but the culmination of a Vogue!!

The Vogue persists till today with one anklet and the other "Missing" 😊
