STAY HOME - On a lighter note

Image
With Corona - the Pandemic having created a frightening and paralyzing environment, the whole world chanting the mantra "STAY HOME", I thought of staying home and penning down something on a lighter note essentially for a few moments of distraction. When celebrities around the world are utilizing the Stay Home time due to the engulfing Corona Virus, rejuvenating their hidden or more appropriate to say forgotten talents like artwork, playing the guitar or even practicing yoga and much more; I decided to re-visit my no-talent zone of Chapathi Making ( Round Indian wheat bread). I am sure there are a lot of raised eyebrows specially from my Asian viewership, chapathi being one of the staple diets in any Indian household, it should come but natural to any born in an Indian household. But this is one talent so to say, I failed to imbibe from my mother who could very easily make thirty of those well rounded chapathis in just ten minutes. The girls away from home, t

The Little Prince who stole our Heart

Image
We landed in the beautiful God's Own Country - Kerala, on Saturday in July 2011. As per the well laid out schedule for our vacation, first on our agenda was to meet Prince, a little five year old from the SOS Village in the small town of Trichur. SOS Village established in 1983 by some kind souls, is a home for approximately 200 orphaned children of all ages. Let me re-emphasize....it is not an orphanage in the conventional outlook, it is a HOME for those children in the literal sense. The "SOS Village" true to its name is a village which accommodates around 15 to 20 individual houses. Each house is a Home to 15 orphaned children ranging from a tender age of 5 to 16 years. Each Home has an Amma (Mother) who has dedicated her life to mothering these children. She takes care of them, cooks with them, teaches them to keep a clean home, screams at them, laughs with them as they all lovingly call out to their Amma. Sunday morning as we chose to visit the Ho

My Car

Like I told you, I have this intense bonding with all these things I use and is a regular in my daily life.  Funny and hysterical as it may sound when people talk about their special bonding with special people in their life, I somehow develop the same feelings towards the non-living that plays a pivotal role in my life to the extend I give them an identity as I mentioned in one of my previous write up. So let me introduce you to this dashing, sleek yet a muscle boy - my silver colored Mitsubishi car. It was the year 2006, when the most sought after silver card - The Driving License, was handed over to me. Hundreds of Congratulatory messages and calls poured in eventually ending with "So when are you buying a car and which one" Then there were these worldly-wise who made their contributions on which would be the best car with regards to longevity, petrol consumption, re-sale value and what more. The decision made, we decided to visit the showroom to select my chariot to

My Balcony - A True Friend

Image
It was a lovely evening of spring, after two hours of continuous watching of a TV comedy show, thought of getting some fresh air standing in our spacious balcony. As I stood there, with the cool breeze beating against my face and the busy roads buzzing with cars and people rushing home from work, I realized this is my place THE BALCONY - A TRUE FRIEND.  Let me tell you, I have his soul connection with the Balcony of my house. It developed right from childhood. Through thick and thin, sadness and happiness, in love and out of love, she has been my soul mate all through to the extend that I have given her a gender. And why not she definitely deserves her individuality if she has been a part of my life this long and shared my emotions with me. And no matter which phase of my life I was she always came with me. My husband and girls would say I am hysterical but dear reader look through my eyes and you will see the bond we share. So when did this bonding st
