Sleepless Nights

Sleepless nights to begin, they said
When my little princesses were born
Proving all the wise-men wrong,
We snored away to glory, cozying up.
But not to deny the sleepless nights
When their body heat would go soaring high
Not blinking an eyelid, the whole night spent
Nursing and cradling to ease their pain.
But not to deny the sleepless nights
When midnight candles burnt during exam times
Not blinking an eyelid, many nights were spent
Coffee and hugs served from time to time.
But not to deny the sleepless nights
When away they went, to fly sky high
Not blinking an eyelid, would wait up nights,
Assured they are back, all safe to rest.
But not to deny the sleepless nights
When once again they decided to leave the nest
To fathom a future; vivacious & unbridled
Not blinking an eyelid, spent many a nights
Waiting to hear “Yes ma, I am fine”
Little did I know, what wise-men said….
Was of sleepless nights distant and unrevealed
Until sleep one day will totally embrace me,
Wrenching out my sleepless nights.
